Welcome to KACCNY
KACCNY Mission Statement
The Korean American Community Center of New York, Inc. (KACCNY) was founded with the mission of helping recent Korean immigrants of New York City to make smooth transitions in adjusting to the new living environment and to become productive members of American society. To accomplish this goal, KACCNY provides comprehensive programs that address the immigrants' cultural, educational, economic, and social needs.
The center’s inception goes back to a meeting held at the Korean United Church of Brooklyn in April 15, 1998. Based on their personal accounts, Mrs. Sunny R. Kim, the current Executive Director, and the clergy members of the Korean Council of Churches of New York (“KCCNY”) identified the cultural, economic, and social problems facing Korean immigrants who had recently moved to the Brooklyn area.
In 1998, these founding members of KACCNY continued to discuss the pressing needs of the Korean community in Brooklyn. They found the need to establish a community center which would adequately address problems facing its members in an efficient and organized fashion.
From 1998 to 1999, the founding members of the center met with representatives of Saint Vincent’s Hospital on numerous occasions to establish a health care clinic for Korean families who cannot afford adequate health care services due to their economic and cultural limitations. Concerned efforts from both sides finally materialized into the foundation of the Korean Health Care Center of the St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Prior to its legal incorporation, KACCNY had its opening ceremony on Oct. 2, 1999, in conjunction with the Korean Health Care Center of the St. Vincent’s Hospital.
KACCNY moved the main office from Brooklyn to Bayside Queens on July 1, 2007 and has developed two new programs.
Korean American Community Center of New York, Inc. is a 501 (C) non-frofit organization and has provided free social services, education programs, and refferals for health services to all age of the Korean immigrants since 1999.
